Cox Automotive Inc. announced it acquired Trudell Holdings Inc., the parent company of a trailer dealership network.
It said the step expands its offering within the medium- and heavy-duty fleet parts and service sectors, and adds direct parts sales and semitrailer sales to its Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services portfolio.
The acquisition includes Trudell Trailer Sales and Northeast Great Dane, the exclusive dealers of Great Dane trailers in numerous upper Midwest and Northeast locations. Great Dane builds dry freight, refrigerated and flatbed trailers.

Trudell also distributes and sells parts directly to customers across the country. It provides trailer service and repairs, heavy-duty truck and trailer parts sales, mobile on-site maintenance, shop semitrailer repairs, and industrial finishing with more than 115 technicians across 13 locations located in the upper Midwest and Northeast, Cox reported.
Cox Automotive Mobility has 1,200 technicians, 750 mobile-service trucks, 40 shop facilities and refers to itself as the nation’s largest self-performing 24/7 emergency repair and towing service.
“The acquisition of Trudell represents our continued commitment to leading the fleet services future and safely servicing trucks and trailers nationwide,” Ted Coltrain, vice president of Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services, said in a release.
Cox Automotive, a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises Inc., noted it makes buying, selling, owning and using vehicles easier for everyone. Among its informative brands are Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book. — Transport Topics
